CWM® India — everything you need to know, fast
A concise reference covering what the CWM® is, who awards it, how the programme is structured, what the exam involves, and who it is designed for.
What is the Chartered Wealth Manager (CWM®)?
The CWM® is the world's leading professional designation for wealth management practitioners — awarded directly by AAFM USA, not by a regional body.
The American Academy of Financial Management (AAFM) is a global standard-setting body founded in 1996 with the objective of promoting wealth management and financial advisory standards worldwide. The Chartered Wealth Manager (CWM®) is its flagship designation — a registered trademark (US Reg. No. 4553651, Intl Class 41; EU No. 010772176) held by more than 3,00,000 professionals across 151+ countries.
In India, the programme is delivered by AAFM India under an official licence from AAFM USA. The certificate, however, is issued directly by AAFM USA — giving every Indian CWM® holder the same internationally recognised credential as their counterparts in the US, UK, Singapore, or anywhere else in the world. There is no separate Indian version and no territorial re-examination if you work abroad.
AAFM India has been the designated delivery partner in India since the organisation's establishment, operating from 75+ Indian cities and supporting 7,000+ active students nationwide. The programme carries ISO 9001/29990 certification, TUV accreditation, and recognition from the US Department of Labor — and has been named Best Finance Certification Body by CMO Asia.

How the CWM® exam works
Online, flexible, and fair — the exam is designed to test applied knowledge, not recall under pressure.
You book your exam slot when you are ready — any day of the year, at an authorised centre. This lets you study at your own pace and sit when you feel prepared, rather than waiting for a scheduled window.
Each level uses multiple-choice questions. There is no penalty for incorrect answers, so you can attempt every question with confidence. The pass mark is 50% at each level.
Centres are available in all major Indian metros and tier-2 cities, as well as 200+ locations globally. If you relocate or travel internationally, you can sit an exam at a centre near you without re-registering.
Exam fees: ₹7,080 for a single level; ₹9,440 for both levels together. Programme fees (study material and learning support) are from ₹42,000 + GST and are separate from exam fees. Contact AAFM India for current pricing.
